Each year, the American Advertising Federation hosts the American Advertising Awards (ADDYs) to recognize the work of advertisers across the country. This year, the Mobile Bay Chapter hosted the American Advertising Awards on Friday, March 8, at Soul Kitchen in Downtown Mobile. Hummingbird rocked the show and went home with the overall Best of Show and a Gold Award for the 2018 Foo Foo Festival Campaign.
About the winning campaign:
Founded in 2014, the 12-Day Foo Foo Festival in historic Pensacola, FL, is truly as unique as its name. Our client wanted to work on creating a new tourist season during the fall for an area that is synonymous with summer and the beach. What did we do?
We named, built, developed and cultivated the brand, and then created and executed its marketing and advertising strategy while providing support on public relations efforts.
The solution involved distributing grant funding to local arts and cultural organizations in an effort to have them create unique and attractive programming to fill in a two-week calendar of arts and cultural events between some of the area’s already popular events. With the idea being that tourists coming for one event may stay longer to attend a myriad of other events.
Each year we oversee an effort to fine tune and execute a completely integrated marketing and advertising campaign that focuses on attracting tourists from markets across the nation to “Vacation Artfully” in the Pensacola area.
This year marked the 5th year for Foo Foo Festival, and to celebrate, we reached beyond the expected and went retro. A design style that visitors of all ages could get excited about.
Hummingbird also brought home a Gold Award for the 2018 Austal “Quit Smoking” Poster Campaign and Silver Awards for the 2018 “Vacation Artfully” Campaign, the Fly Creek Marina logo design and the 2018 Austal “Quit Smoking” Poster Photography.
